All donations are tax-deductible under the IRS Code, and our IRS 990 is available upon request.
All gift donations go directly to humanitarian projects, including the rescue of Afghans being hunted by the Taliban. Widows and Orphans' goal is to extract these Afghan families from harm's way and get them to a safe location. Please join us in this effort financially as it takes money to extricate, feed and house these families.
The organization and its personnel are not new to Afghanistan, as some members have experience dating back to the Soviet War era of the 1980s. We focus on some of the hardest cases, primarily women's rights activists, women journalists, and human rights defenders. Donors have a ONE-ON-ONE, PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with the Afghan families they sponsor. You may sponsor a family during the initial evacuation -- we have many more to yet save -- or sponsor a family's ongoing support needs and resettlement needs for those we have already brought to safety. A family of five typically costs approximately $2,250 to save through our program. Support costs range from $1,200 to $2,500 per month, depending on location (e.g., Pakistan, Albania, Turkey, etc.).
